Yes, the topic of cyber security will become critical discussion in the meeting of NATO leaders in Lisbon, Portugal in November. This was affirmed by the United States Defense Ministry deputy, William Lynn.
"This alliance has a crucial role to develop our network security protection. NATO already has a nuclear defense, but also necessary cyber shield," said Lynn TU quoted by AFP on Thursday (09/16/2010).
According to Lynn, it takes a collective defense in the realm of cyber by adopting a strategy on the Cold War era. The U.S. government has estimated there are over 100 foreign intelligence agents who tried to penetrate the network in the U.S. alone.
The Pentagon identified the five pillars in cyber defense. It takes the knowledge that the cyber realm is the new battlefield, the need to make an active defense, protection of critical infrastructure, increase the collective defense and technology development.
"I am very impressed with the unity of purpose and vision in this alliance to about cyber threats," added Lynn.
